Prepare your exit:
Don't forget anything to survive the Finistère! Living Lannilis, we quickly learn that a family walk in the Finistère can start under a radiant sun and end under a refreshing little drizzle (or the reverse !). The story of our outings taught us that a well prepared bag is the assurance of a successful day without tears or wet feet.
Today, I deliver our family "check-list", tested and approved by Cyril, the children and myself. Whether you're going for an hour on the coastal path or for an entire day in the Mounts of Stopping, this is what never leaves us.
The essentials of the backpack
Each object has its place and importance. Here are the elements that save our days:
The weather survival kit:
- The Wind Cup (The famous K-Way): In Brittany, the wind is our companion. Even if it is 25 degrees away from home, it can be lively at the Pointe du Raz or on Virgin Island.
- The three-layer rule: T-shirt, little sweater and jacket. It's the secret that children are not too hot or too cold.
- Sunscreen and glasses: Be careful, the fresh wind is treacherous! You don't feel the sun typing, but the reverberation on the water doesn't forgive.
The essentials of the snack (The fuel!) :
- Water quantity: The effort to walk in the sand or climb Morlaix's venals is often underestimated.
- The package of Breton cakes or round pallets: It's the magic uplift for Kristof and Eleen when the legs start to get tired.
- Fruit or gourd compotes: Practical, light and wasteless bulky.
My practical tips for parents:
- For bobos: A small kit with dressings (especially for bulbs!) and a disinfectant. One is never sheltered from a small slide on a rock in Meneham.
- For babies: If you follow my advice and use the Baby carrier, don't forget a small hat with wide edges and what to cover the legs that go over, as they are the first ones exposed to the wind.
- The waste bag: We love our landscapes, so we always go with our garbage. A small empty plastic bag in the bottom of the bag is essential.
- Route: To never lose yourself, always keep your Google Maps links offline, as the network sometimes plays hide-and-seek in abers!

Capture the essentials! The most beautiful digital memory of your outing, it's not only the landscape, it's also the smile of your children with a mustache of chocolate after tasting it, or their shoes full of mud after exploring the Mounts of Stop. These are the details that make the real family photos!
Personal Ressentee:
Preparing the backpack is already the beginning of the adventure. In Lannilis, it is often the signal of departure that excites the whole tribe. I like this ritual where everyone checks if they have their indispensables. There is a joyous excitement. Whether for an improvised outing or a great expedition, knowing that we have everything we need allows us to enjoy the moment. In the end, the most beautiful indispensable that one takes away is our good mood and our desire to discover again and again the treasures of our dear Finistère.
